14.01.2010

Pipilotti’s feature film debut “Pepperminta” will be screened in the Bright Future section of the 39th International Film Festival Rotterdam (January 27-February 7, 2010). The festival is also launching support for a new film project by the Swiss film and video artist in conjunction with an ambitious experiment called “Cinema Reloaded” for the financing and distribution of film projects in the digital era. The Rotterdam Festival, well known for its discoveries and talent pool, will present five further films from Switzerland, as well as experimental works and future film projects.
The documentary film “God No Say So” by Brigitte Uttar Kornetzky will celebrate its world premiere in the Bright Future section. The independent film was shot in Sierra Leone and bears witness to the current impact of the civil war that devastated this West African nation during the nineties. The film “Die Frau mit den 5 Elefanten” by Vadim Jendreyko, which was honoured with two awards at the Festival Visions du Réel in Nyon, will be screened in Rotterdam in the Spectrum series. Among the short films presented in this series are “Le deuil de la cigogne joyeuse” by Eileen Hofer, “Schonzeit” by Irene Ledermann and “Strings of Affection” by Emmanuelle Antille. In addition, the festival, which bridges various film genres and art disciplines, will present the 40-minute film “Petropolis” produced by Swiss-Canadian Peter Mettler for Greenpeace Canada.

Parallel to the festival is the 27th CineMart, a coproduction market seeking partners for 35 projects from all over the world. Participating in the market is CAB Productions from Lausanne with the film project “Bulle de soleil” by Bruno Deville, born in Belgium and a graduate of the ECAL film school in Lausanne and director of independent short films.
