Seven short animation film productions from Switzerland will be screened at the 35th Ottawa International Animation Festival (September 21-25, 2011); four of these works will compete in competition. The film “Romance” by renowned filmmaker Georges Schwizgebel is among the 96 short films from all over the world and thus in the running for the Grand Prix, together with the films “Partition” by directing trio Eleonora Berra, Delia Hess and Shami Lang-Rinderspacher; “Animal Kingdom” by Nils Hedinger; as well as “Der grosse Bruder” by Jesús Pérez and Elisabeth Hüttermann.

Filmmaker Georges Schwizgebel and Shami Lang-Rinderspacher will present their films personally to the audience in the Canadian capital. Three further Swiss animation films are among the other 51 works screened in the Showcase section: "Gipfel-Gig" by Lukas Egger and Bernhard Bamert; "La fille & le chasseur" by Jadwiga Kowalska; and "Na Cidade" by Delia Hess.

More than 2,000 films from 75 countries were submitted to the International Animation Film Festival in Ottawa, which is one of the four most important festivals in the world for this genre, apart from the festivals in Annecy, Hiroshima and Zagreb. The festival not only features short and feature-length films screened in competition and an official selection programme, but also offers a host of events, including workshops, Master classes, retrospectives, a film market and a Television Animation Conference (TAC).
