Swiss film director Séverine Cornamusaz was honoured with the Gladiator Award for Best Director for her fiction film debut “Coeur animal” at the 3rd Durrës International Film Summerfest (August 29 - September 4, 2010). The winner of the Quartz Swiss Film Prize 2010, whose film celebrated its world premiere just one year ago at the World Film Festival in Montreal, has now won the 8th award for her film.

A total of 16 films were screened in competition in the Albanian harbour city of Durrës; together with "Coeur animal" was the Swiss film production "Sinestesia" by Erik Bernasconi, from Ticino. The five-member international jury presented Gladiator Awards in the categories of Best Film, Best Director and Best Actress and Best Actor. The Durrës International Film Summerfest, which screens part of its festival programme in the ancient Roman amphitheatre in the city, aims to establish strong cultural ties between Albania, the Balkan States and Europe.
