03.03.2009

The 35-minute documentary film “El futuro es hoy” by Sandra Gomez (production: Peacock Film, Zurich) was honoured with the Premio Signis award at the 8th Muestra de Nuevos Realizadores in Havana (February 24-March 1, 2009). The award was presented by the Catholic Organisation in Cuba. The film director, who is from Cuba and lives in Switzerland, attended the ceremony in Havana to receive the award personally.

The festival is devoted to new talented Cuban directors who have made short, documentary, fiction and animation films. At last year’s festival in Havana, two awards were presented to Heidi Hassan for her short film “Tierra Roja”, which was produced at HEAD (Haute école d’art et de design Genève). Sandra Gomez had already been honoured with four awards in 2007 for her previous film “Las camas solas”.
