Six Swiss films at film festival in Buenos Aires

Six Swiss film productions will be screened at the 11th Buenos Aires Festival Internacional de Cine Independiente (BAFICI), which will be held in the Argentinean capital city from March 25-April 5, 2009: Lionel Baier’s two fiction films “Un autre homme” and “Comme des voleurs – A l’Est” (Saga Production, Lausanne); and the two documentary films “La forteresse” by Fernand Melgar (production: Climage, Lausanne) and “La mere” by Antoine Cattin and Pavel Kostomarov (production: Les Films Hors-Champ, Chavornay). The two Swiss coproductions – “Tulpan” by Kazakh Sergei Dvortsevoy (coproduction: Cobra Film, Zurich) and “Winter Silence” by Sonja Wyss – round off the strong Swiss presence in Buenos Aires.
This festival of independent films in Buenos Aires is the most important film event in Argentina, apart from the Mar del Plata International Film Festival in November. Last year the festival attracted 220,000 visitors. The festival encompasses a total of nine venues.
