Three film productions – the Swiss documentary film “Die Reise zum sichersten Ort der Erde” about final repositories for nuclear waste, as well as the two fiction films “Die innere Zone” and “Tempo Girl” – will celebrate their world premieres in the city of Hof, Germany. Three further films from Switzerland have been invited to the festival in Upper Franconia of Bavaria. The Hof International Film Festival is a well-regarded platform for launching films in Germany.

Switzerland is present with no less than three world premieres at the 47th Hof International Film Festival (October 22-27, 2013). In Fosco Dubini’s “Die innere Zone” – featuring a prominent cast with Jeanette Hain, Nikolai Kinski and Dietmar Mössmer – a psychologist visits an abandoned mountain village to meet with three engineers. Dominik Locher’s “Tempo Girl” – starring Gilles Tschudi and Anatole Taubman, among others – tells the story of a young wannabe novelist.

Journey to the safest place
In his documentary film “Die Reise zum sichersten Ort der Erde,” director Edgar Hagen sheds light on the limits and contradictions involved in seeking safe disposal sites for nuclear waste. One of the protagonists in his films is the Swiss-British nuclear physicist Charles McCombie, who has headed this mission as a top expert working for international organisations for 35 years.

Traumland, Puppylove and Pocket Rocket
Two fictions films – “Traumland” by Petra Volpe and “Puppylove” by Delphine Lehericey – will pursue their film careers in Hof. “Puppylove” has already been screened in San Sebastian, Zurich and Namur; “Traumland” in Zurich and in Busan, South Korea. In addition, the 8-minute fiction film “Pocket Rocket” by Walter Feistle – who was invited to the Hof International Film Festival last year with his film “Dead Fucking Last” – has already been honoured with an award at the Fantastic Festival in Neuchâtel.

Lancierung in Germany
Heinz Badewitz, founder of the festival in Hof, has developed “his” festival into one of the most important meeting points for professionals in the industry of German-speaking film and a favoured platform for launching films in Germany. The festival focuses exclusively on German premieres. Fosco Dubini and the actress Jeanette Hain, Edgar Hagen, Dominik Locher and Petra Volpe will all attend the festival to present their works personally.
