Swiss animation filmmaking honoured in Moscow

Swiss animation film productions will be showcased in a homage at the Big Cartoon Festival in Moscow.

Swiss animation film productions will be showcased in a homage at the Big Cartoon Festival in Moscow. It comprises 20 works showcased in two retrospectives: one of which is devoted to works from the Lucerne School of Art and Design, and the other to Swiss animated cartoon filmmaker Isabelle Favez.

The 6th Big Cartoon Festival in Moscow (October 26 - November 6, 2012) will honour Swiss animation filmmaking in two programmes organised in collaboration with SWISS FILMS, the promotion agency. The animation film department at the Lucerne School of Art and Design (HSLU) will be highlighted with 14 film productions. Otto Alder, cineaste and instructor at the HSLU, will present the works. In addition, the audience in Moscow will have the opportunity to discover such successful works as “Bon voyage” by Fabio Friedli as well as “La fenêtre” by Camille Müller, one of the most recent productions at the school. The homage to Isabelle Favez comprises seven film productions, including her tentatively last opus “Au cœur de l’hiver.” The Bernese director will attend the festival in the Russian capital to present her works personally.

Anima Campus with two Swiss directors
Animation filmmakers from different countries will participate in the Anima Campus which has been organised in conjunction with the festival (November 3-6). Lea Stirnimann and Thirza Ingold, two graduates from the HSLU, will be among the participants. The 12-day festival takes place festival at twelve different venues. More than 400 films are screened in 50 thematic programmes.
