Swiss animation films in Hiroshima

The 12th edition of the International Animation Film Festival in Hiroshima (August 7-11, 2008) will present four short animation films from Switzerland. The animation film “Botteoubatteau” by Marina Rosset (HSLU - Hochschule Luzern, Art & Design) will participate in the international competition. Rosset, from the canton of Vaud, has received support from SWISS FILMS to travel to Japan and present her film personally.
From the 1,650 works submitted from 56 countries, the film “Botteoubateau” was among the 76 films selected to participate in the international competition, contending for the Grand Prize which amounts to CHF 10,000.
Two other films from the HSLU (Hochschule Luzern) will be screened in the “Stars of Students” programme: the stop-motion animation film “What’s Next?” by Claudia Röthlin and Adrian Fluckiger, as well as the animation film “Tôt ou tard” by Jadwiga Kowalska. In addition, the stop-motion film “Sainte Barbe” by Cédric Louis and Claude Barras will be screened in the special programme called “Animation for Children”.
The festival, which is held every two years, was founded in 1985 by film director Sayoko Kinoshita, who has served as the festival director from the beginning. It is one of the four most important festivals worldwide for the genre of animation film. The festival’s motto is LOVE & PEACE.
