25.04.2007

The 14th International Animation Film Festival Stuttgart (April 26 - May 1, 2007) presents nine Swiss animation films. "Le génie de la boîte de raviolis" by Claude Barras and "Jeu" by Georges Schwizgebel will be showing in the international competition and are competing for Stuttgart’s Grand Prix, which is sponsored with 15’000 Euros. "Jeu" will also be screening in the short films competition of the 31st International Animation Film Festival in Annecy (June 11 -16, 2007), while the long Swiss animation film "Max & Co", by the brothers Frédéric and Samuel Guillaume (Saga productions, Lausanne & le studio Cinémagination, Fribourg), will be celebrating its world premier at the official competition for long films and consequently will be the Helvetic event at the Annecy Festival. The film "Max & Co", co produced with France, Belgium and Great Britain, is the first long work of the brothers Guillaume and will compete against eight other films for the "Cristal du long métrage". "The Cleaner" by Dustin Rees, student at the HGK in Lucerne, belongs to the movies presented in the two cities. It will be shown at the Stuttgart competition "Young Animations" and in the Annecy student films competition, where also "Botteoubateau" by Marina Roset will be presented. Additionally, "Not the End" by Clemens Steiger will be presented at both festivals.

Further films showing in Stuttgart are: "La jeune fille et les nuages" by Georges Schwizgebel and "Credo" by Jonas Raeber (Program "Best of Animation"); "Freakhouz" in co direction by Dustin Rees and Oliver Aemisegger (Program "Under Commission"); "Central Swiss" by Paul Bush and the 60 minutes-long "Punk Cocktail" by René Uhlmann.

The festival in Stuttgart is the most important animation film festival in Germany and belongs to the big ones worldwide, while the event in Annecy is the worldwide most prominent animation film festival. Both events are actively involved in the international market: A two-day long "Animation Production Day", to support the international animation film industry brings producers of evening-filling fiction film projects together with financiers and with world marketing in the state capital of Baden-Württemberg. Annecy has established a three-day market for the international animation film (MIFA).
