Swiss animation films screened in Vendôme and Ljubljana

Ten short animation film productions will be showcased in the “Panorama de l’animation Suisse” at the 19th Film Festival in Vendôme, France. A total of nine Swiss animation films will be screened at the 7th Animateka International Animated Film Festival in Ljubljana (Slovenia).

Ten short animation film productions will be showcased in the “Panorama de l’animation Suisse” at the 19th Film Festival in Vendôme, France (December 3-10, 2010). A total of nine Swiss animation films will be screened at the 7th Animateka International Animated Film Festival in Ljubljana (Slovenia) – seven of which will participate in the international competition. The Swiss-Croatian coproduction “Miramare” by Michaela Müller is participating in the European Competition in Vendôme as well as competing for the main prize at Animateka.

Current films like "Schlaf" (Sleep) by Claudius Gentinetta and Frank Braun as well as earlier works like "Fugue" (1998) by Georges Schwizgebel will be showcased in the panorama in Vendôme, highlighting the vitality of Swiss animation filmmaking. The co-director of the Cinématou International Festival of Animated Film in Geneva, Matilda Tavelli Cunado, is one of the five jury members. She will present a carte blanche from the Cinematou Festival, featuring two Swiss animation films.

Seven of the 43 animation film productions screened in the International Competition at the festival in Ljubljana come from Switzerland. Jadwiga Kowalska's new film "La fille & le chasseur", the Polish-Swiss coproduction "Danny Boy" by Marek Skrobecki and "Animal Kingdom" by Nils Hedinger (Lucerne School of Art & Design) will compete for the festival's Grand Prize.
