In collaboration with the international documentary film festivals in Mexico, Argentina and Chile, SWISS FILMS has launched the “Nuevas voces, otros ámbitos” (new voices, different settings) film programme.

The programme comprises a selection of current documentary films by young, successful directors from Switzerland who have portrayed very different people and locations around the world with a cosmopolitan view in their first feature-length film.

The film programme starts off at the Festival DocsMX in Mexico City (October 13-22). Thereafter, it will be screened at the Doc Buenos Aires in Argentina from October 20-27 and at the FIDOCS in Santiago de Chile from November 7-13.

Film director Jan Gassmann will travel to Mexico to present his film “Europe, She Loves” to the audience. Susanne Regina Meures with present her film “Raving Iran” in Buenos Aires and Santiago de Chile.

Furthermore, a programme comprising Swiss short films will also be screened in Colombia at the Festival Bogoshorts in December.

The promotion agency SWISS FILMS has focused on Latin America by intensifying the festival presence of Swiss film productions outside Europe in 2016. The highlight was in March 2016, when Switzerland was featured as the guest of honour at the festival and film market in Guadalajara, together with the joint letter of intent signed by the Mexican Film Institute (IMCINE) and the Swiss Federal Office of Culture  (SFOC) regarding coproductions between Mexico and Switzerland.

Swiss film programmes were also subsequently screened at other institutions in Mexico. In addition, the Festival Eurocine in Bogotá and the film festival in Lima will both focus on Swiss filmmaking this year.

SWISS FILMS will focus on Brazil in 2017.
