Swiss documentary films open for discussion in Duisburg

The Swiss cineastes Dieter Fahrer, Mirjam von Arx and Robert-Jan Lacombe will present their most recent works at the “Duisburger Filmwoche". The festival devoted to German-speaking documentary films offers in-depth discussions with the filmmakers in attendance.

Three documentary film productions from Switzerland are on the programme of the 36th “Duisburger Filmwoche,” whose them this year is “Räume” (November 5-11): Dieter Fahrer’s film “Thorberg” about inmates at a prison of the same name in the canton of Bern; Mirjam von Arx’s “Virgin Tales” portraying the puritanical world of virginity fanatics in America; and the short film “Kwa Heri Mandima,” in which the director Robert-Jan Lacombe reflects on his childhood.

In-depth discussions of the films
Four awards amounting to a total of EUR 18,000 are presented at the “Duisburger Filmwoche.” The Swiss film critic Geri Krebs is a member of the jury which awards the 3sat Prize for Best German Documentary, endowed with EUR 6,000. The film directors of all the works presented in Duisburg will attend the festival and participate in film discussions following the respective screenings.
