Two Swiss short films and a feature film will be screened in the competition programmes at the 43rd Festival Internacional de Cinema Fantàstic de Catalunya in Sitges (October 7-17, 2010). The film “Lo más importante de la vida es no haber muerto” by the director trio comprised of Pablo Martín Torrado, Marc Recuenco and Olivier Pictet is in the running for an award in the Noves Visions feature film section, encompassing 15 works which explore innovative narrative styles. The short animation films “Danny Boy” by Polish director Marek Skrobecki – produced by Archangel Film Group, Savosa, Ticino – and “Land Of The Heads” by directors Cédric Louis and Claude Barras are competing for the Gertie Award presented to the Best Short Film in the Anima’t section.

The "Heidi Goes Wild" programme is comprised of 12 short film productions from Switzerland and was organised under the aegis of the Festival international du film fantastique de Neuchâtel (NIFFF). The programme provides insight into Swiss filmmaking in the area of short fantasy film productions at the Catalan festival.
The film festival in Sitges was founded in 1968 and is the most important platform for the fantasy film genre. It is one of the nine member festivals in the European Fantastic Film Festivals Federation (EFFFF). Every year since 2008 it has awarded the Méliès d'Or for Best Short Film and Best European Feature Film in this genre. The festival in Catalonia is also accredited by the International Federation of Film Producers Association (FIAPF) in the Competitive Specialised Feature Film Festivals category.
