Swiss film makers awarded in New York and Hamburg

At the 11th Brooklyn International Film Festival (May 30-June 8, 2008), the short film “Auf der Strecke” by Swiss director Reto Caffi was honoured with the “Best Narrative Short Award”, its third award in the USA, subsequent to the “Student Oscar”, awarded on June 7 and the “Best Student Award” in Aspen. The jury of the Brooklyn International Film Festival also awarded the “Certificate for Outstanding Achievement” to Swiss cinematographer Filip Zumbrunn for his contribution to the film“Fuori dalle corde” by Fulvio Bernasconi.
The international successes of the Swiss-German coproduction “Auf der Strecke” are noticiably accumulating. On the occasion of the 24th International Short Film Festival Hamburg (June 4-9, 2008), the graduate film of the Swiss director, being educated in Cologne, was honoured with two additional prizes, the “Innovation Award” worth 2000 Euros as well as the Audience Award worth 1500 Euros. In their statement the jury of the German competition emphasizes “the outstanding performance and mature staging” of this 30-minute short film.
