Swiss Film Prize 2002 awarded to a young generation of film directors,actors and actresses

The winners of the Swiss Film Prize 2002 have been announced. "Utopia
Blues" by Stefan Haupt was selected for the category of "Best Fiction
Film" and awarded a sum of fifty thousand francs. The award for "Best
Documentary Film", also with a sum of fifty thousand francs, went to
"Bashkim" by Vadim Jendreyko. The award for "Best Short Film" was
presented to "La jeune fille et les nuages" by Georges Schwizgebel with
a sum of twenty thousand francs. The awards for "Best Actress" and "Best
Actor", each with a sum of fifteen thousand francs contributed by
Swissperform (the Swiss actors' rights society), were presented to
Andrea Guyer and Carol Schuler for their roles in "Lieber Brad", and
Michael Finger for his role in "Utopia Blues".
On the occasion of the 37th Solothurn Film Festival, the Swiss Film Prize was awarded for the fifth time since its inception. It is a collective undertaking of the Federal Office for Culture, the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation (SRG SSR idée suisse), the Locarno International Film Festival, the Nyon Documentary Film Festival "Visions du réel", the Solothurn Film Festival, and the Swiss Film Center.

The jury for the Swiss Film Prize 2002 included actor Stefan Gubser (Jury President), film director Matthias von Gunten, film producer Tiziana Soudani from Ticino, Genevan art historian Erika Deuber Ziegler, TSR television host Florence Heiniger, as well as journalist and film academic Vinzenz Hediger.

Along with the monetary prize, the directors of the winning films were also presented with a trophy - a professional pocket-sized "viewfinder" which can be used in their filmmaking activities.
