Swiss film productions compete at Max Ophuels Prize Film Festival 2008

Seven Swiss films and co-productions will be presented at the 29th Max Ophuels Prize Film Festival, which runs from January 14 – 20, 2008 in Saarbrücken. The festival, whose focus is on the new generation of talented directors from German-speaking regions, will open with the screening of the Swiss comedy “Love Made Easy” by Peter Luisi (production: Spotlight Media, Zurich). The film “Hello Goodbye” (Tellfilm, Zurich) and the documentary film “Der Pfad des Krieges” by Andreas Pichler, a co-production with Dschoint Ventschr in Zurich, will both compete in the competition. The monetary prizes for this year’s festival amount to over 80,000 euros. Stefan Jäger, director of “Hello Goodbye”, the leading actress Mona Petri and leading actor Stefan Gubser and the cinematographer Piotr Jaxa will attend the festival for the presentation of their film.
The documentary films “Shake The Devil Off” by Peter Entell (Show and Tell Films, Founex) and “Zu Fuss nach Santiago de Compostela” by Bruno Moll (PS Film, Zurich), both of which premiered in Locarno, will be screened in the “Spektrum” section. The fiction film “Nur ein Sommer” by German film director Tamara Staudt, co-produced by Dschoint Ventschr, will be presented in this section as well. The film, in which Swiss actors Stefan Gubser, Peter Wyssbrod and Stephanie Glaser performed, is scheduled to be released in German cinemas on January 17. The three-minute short film “Riot” by Tristan Audeoud from Geneva will be presented in the LUX experimental film series and “Interruptus” directed by Angela Rohrer will be screened in the short film programme “Sprint”.
