Swiss film programme at Lisbon Gay and Lesbian Film Festival
For the first time ever, Swiss filmmaking has been granted a noteworthy platform at the 14th Lisbon Gay and Lesbian Film Festival (September 17-25, 2010). The Portuguese film festival compiled the programme together with SWISS FILMS, the promotion agency.

The Swiss film programme spans more than three decades and offers viewers insight into Switzerland's status quo: with the fiction films "Beresina oder Die letzten Tage der Schweiz" (1999) by Daniel Schmid and "The Swissmakers" (1979) by Rolf Lyssy; the programme also highlights individual biographies with the documentary films "Daniel Schmid - Le chat qui pense" (2010) by Benny Jaberg and Pascal Hofmann and "Zeit des Abschieds" (2006) by Mehdi Sahebi; and it addresses the transition into adulthood with Canadian-Swiss director Léa Pool's coming-of-age fiction film "Emporte-moi" (1999), which won the Swiss Film Prize 2000.
Veronika Minder will open the programme on September 18, 2010, with her award-winning documentary film "Katzenball." She is also a member of the jury for the documentary film competition. In addition, Marcel Gisler will personally present his fiction film "Die blaue Stunde" (1992). The Swiss programme comprises four fiction films, three documentary films and five short films.
Swiss film productions are regulars in Lisbon this year: already in March 2010, a "Retrospectiva Suíça" comprised of ten Swiss animation film productions was screened at the 10th anniversary of the International Animation Film Festival "Monstra 10." And special focus will be given to Swiss filmmaking in a programme comprised of documentary films planned in conjunction with the International Documentary Film Festival "Doc Lisboa", which will be held in October 2010.
