Swiss films in the running for a nomination for the European Film Award and an Academy Award

Rolando Colla’s feature film “Summer Games” has been selected as the Swiss candidate for an Academy Award nomination, which will be presented at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood on February 26, 2012. The film “La petite chamber” by Stephanie Chuat and Véronique Reymond, which was up for an Oscar nomination earlier this year, is now up for a nomination for the European Film Award 2011. The award ceremony will be held in Berlin on December 3.

Apart from the categories of Best Film, Best Director and Best Screenplay, the film "La petite chamber" is also in the running for a nomination for Best Actor with Michel Bouquet. The film was honoured twice with the Swiss Film Prize "Quartz 2011" for Best Fiction Film and Best Screenplay. The nominations for the European Film Awards will be announced at the beginning of November in conjunction with the European Film Festival in Seville.

The Swiss-Italian coproduction "Summer Games" ("Giochi d'estate"), which celebrated its world premiere in the official programme of the 68th Mostra d'arte cinematografica in Venice, was selected as the Swiss nomination for Best Foreign Language Film by a jury appointed by the Federal Office of Culture on September 24. Until the Academy Award nominations are announced on January 24, 2012, SWISS FILMS, the promotion agency will carry out the Oscar campaign which entails coordinating screenings of the film in various cities throughout America.
