The online television art.tv presented Francine Brücher, staff member of the SWISS FILMS Foundation, an Honorary Pearl 2011 for her many years of promotional and on behalf of the Swiss film industry. At the award ceremony in Locarno on August 9, 2011, the documentary filmmaker Christian Frei, president of the Swiss Film Academy, honoured the achievements of the industrious ambassador of Swiss filmmaking.

Francine Brücher began working in the film industry in 1972. She was in charge of the distribution of German auteur films during the years of the New German Cinema, working with such directors as Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Wim Wenders, Werner Schroeter or Alexander Kluge. In the mid-1980s she moved from Munich to Zurich as a sales manager for Metropolis Film. In 1997 she assumed the position of sales and marketing consultant at the Swiss Film Center and was responsible for international promotion at SWISS FILMS until the end of 2010. Francine Brücher has continued her promotional activities for the Swiss film industry with independent mandates since 2011.

In collaboration with the Swiss Federation of Film Critics (SVFJ), art-tv.ch has awarded "Culture Pearls" to outstanding films and for achievements in the area of cultural promotion for Swiss filmmaking every year since 2005. Switzerland's Film Pearl 2011 for Best Feature Film went to “Sennentuntschi” by Michael Steiner; the Film Pearl for Best Documentary Film went to “Unser Garten Eden” by Mano Khalil. André Chevailler was also awarded an Honorary Pearl. During his 40 years of service at the Swiss Film Archive, he established its world-renowned photo and poster collection.
