A programme devoted exclusively to Swiss filmmaking – Mosaico suizo – will be screened at the 6th Santiago International Festival (SANFIC) in Chile (August 17-23, 2010). The largest international film festival in Chile will showcase the younger generation of Swiss filmmakers, including Micha Lewinsky, Séverine Cornamusaz, Moritz Gerber and Oliver Paulus, and also place Swiss director Lionel Baier center stage. Baier has already made a name for himself in South America. Along with the seven films in Mosaico suizo programme, there will be two other films presented in the Chilean capital as “World Visions”: the Swiss documentary film “Die Frau mit den 5 Elefanten” by Vadim Jendreyko and the screen adaption of Martin Suter’s “Lila, Lila”, directed by Alain Gsponer.

Lionel Baier will present his three films in the Mosaico suizo programme: "Un autre homme" (2008); "Comme des voleurs" (2006); and "Garçon Stupide" (2004). Séverine Cornamusaz will present her fiction film "Coeur animal", which was awarded the Quartz Swiss Film Prize 2010. The films "Die Standesbeamtin" by Micha Lewinsky, "Tag am Meer" by Moritz Gerber and "Tandoori Love" by Oliver Paulus will round off the exceptional Swiss presence at the largest film festival in Chile.

Mosaico suizo was initiated by SWISS FILMS. It is part of the Lazos suizos cultural programme with which SWISS FILMS and the Swiss Arts Council aim to promote select cooperation projects and cultural exchange with the South American countries of Chile and Argentina. In April of this year, the BAFICI (Buenos Aires Festival Internacional de Cine Independiente) honoured Peter Liechti with a retrospective.
