Swiss presence at IndieLisboa Film Festival (Portugal)

Two Swiss films, together with a foreign film with Swiss direction, will be screened at the 6th “IndieLisboa” International Festival of Independent Films in Lisbon (April 23-May 3, 2009): the short animation film “Signalis” by Adrian Flückiger (Lucerne School of Art and Design) will be screened in the international animation film competition; the Dutch production “Winterstilte” by Swiss director Sonja Wyss in the experimental film competition; and Lionel Baier’s fiction film “Un autre homme” will be screened in the “Director’s Cut” section.
The young film director Adrian Flückiger will attend the IndieLisboa Film Festival thanks to the support of the promotion agency SWISS FILMS. The festival is devoted to independent film productions of all lengths and genres, albeit a director’s first or second film. Approximately 300 films are screened every year at the festival which draws 28,000 visitors, 300 of whom are film professionals.



The film “Winterstilte”, which celebrated its premiere in the International Forum of New Cinema at the Berlinale last February, depicts the extreme situation of a woman and her four daughters who are snowbound in a remote Alpine hut for the entire winter after her husband dies in an accident, The is compounded by the fact that her husband died, leaving her in an accident. The film was shot entirely in the Swiss Alps, with Gerda Zangger, Sandra Utzinger, Brigitta Weber, Katalin Liptak and Sarah Bühlmann starring in the main roles. The 42-year-old Swiss film director and video artist, Sonja Wyss, lives in Amsterdam.
