Swiss Presence in Hof, Germany

Six Swiss films are participating at the 37th Hof International Film Festival taking place from October 22-26, 2003. After their premiere in Locarno, the feature films “Little Girl Blue“ by Anna Luif and “South of the Clouds “ (“Au sud des nuages”) by Jean-François Amiguet will be shown to a German audience for the first time.
The film “Strong Shoulders“ (“Des épaules solides”) by Ursula Meier, developed as part the Arte collection “Masculine-Feminine”, film essay “Bottles and Gods “ by Felix Tissi, TV documentary “Writing against Death “ by Rolf Lyssy as well as the short film and winner of multiple awards “Staircase “by Frédéric Mermoud will be shown in Hof this year. This mythical festival, created through the demand of the “New German Cinema” (the NGC), has welcomed the debuts of all the great names of German film. The international press refers to it as the “Telluride of Germany”, and Wim Wenders christened it as “HOF: Home of Films”. Hof also serves as an important platform for distribution in Germany. The three directors Anna Luif, Felix Tissi, and Rolf Lyssy as well as the producer of “South of the Clouds “, Bernard Lang, will personally present their films at the festival.
