Swiss short films awarded at Huesca and Zagreb

The 34th International Huesca Film Festival (Aragon, Spain) ended with the award ceremony on June 17th, 2006, where the Swiss-Argentine short film «Amancay» by Milagros Mumenthaler (Production: Bordu Film, Geneva) took home the «Cacho Pallero» award with a prize sum of 6,000 Euro. The film had participated in the Ibero-American contest along with 49 additional works. The short film «Wir sind dir treu» (We will be faithful to you) by Michael Koch, which is dedicated to soccer fans, received an honorable mention in the festival’s «European Documentary» section. At the 17th Animafest World Festival of Animated Films in Zagreb, which ended on the same day, the film «Tarte aux pommes» (Apple pie) by Isabelle Favez also received an honorable mention. The director was in attendance at the festival in the Croatian capital.
The four-member jury of the Ibero-American competition at Huesca justified its decision by emphasizing «Amancay’s» «accomplishment in acting» and its «general qualities». The jury also appreciated how the short film «evokes and establishes a direct connection with the audience». The «Cacho Pallero» prize was bestowed to Milagros Mumenthaler by the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation (AECI). The director of the film was in attendance at the award ceremony along with its producer, David Epiney.



The competition for European documentary films took place for the first time. With its honorable mention, the jury underscored the qualities of «Wir sind dir treu».
