“Tannöd” and “Sinestesia” in competition, premiere of “Impasse du désir” in Montreal

Bettina Oberli’s drama “Tannöd” will be screened in the World Competition of the 34th World Film Festival in Montreal. The film “Sinestesia” by Erik Bernasin will be presented in the First Films World Competition, with the actor Leonardo Nigro and cinematographer Pietro Zürcher in attendance.

Bettina Oberli’s drama “Tannöd” will be screened in the World Competition of the 34th World Film Festival in Montreal. The film “Sinestesia” by Erik Bernasin will be presented in the First Films World Competition, with the actor Leonardo Nigro and cinematographer Pietro Zürcher in attendance. Michel Rodde’s fiction film “Impasse du désir” will celebrate its world premiere in conjunction with a special screening. Remy Girard, the highly acclaimed actor from Quebec, stars in the leading role of the film. Seven further Swiss film productions will be presented at the World Film Festival, which runs from August 26 to September 6, 2010. It ranks among the ten largest film festivals in the world.

The fiction film "La petite chambre" by Stéphanie Chuat and Véronique Reymond, which celebrated its world premiere in competition in Locarno, will be screened in the auspicious Focus on World Cinema programme. Also screened in this section will be "Der Grosse Kater" by Wolfgang Panzer - starring Bruno Ganz as the President of the Swiss Federal Council - "Taxiphone" by Mohammed Soudani and the animation film "Schlaf" by Claudius Gentinetta and Frank Braun. The film "Der Kameramörder" (coproduction: Cobra Film, Zurich) and the film "Hunter's Bride" (producer: Syquali Multimedia AG, Zurich), a cinematic adaption of an opera by Weber, will also be presented in Quebec. Brigitte Uttar Kornetzky's documentary film "God No Say So" about humanity in West Africa will round off the strong presence of Swiss filmmaking at this major film festival.

A sizeable Swiss delegation comprised of cineastes and actors from almost all the films will accompany these productions at the most important festival in Francophone Quebec. SWISS FILMS, the film promotion agency, has provided Swiss filmmakers with financial support to participate at the festival, as well as consultation in Quebec.
