“The Giant Buddhas” awarded at FIFA in Montreal

At the 25th International Festival of Films on Art (FIFA), which ended on March 18, 2007, the documentary film “The Giant Buddhas” by Christian Frei took home the “Award for Best Reportage” ex aequo with the French-Canadian co-production “Le Blues de l’Orient” by Florence Strauss.
“The Giant Buddhas” is one of three films that were recently been released on a DVD by GEO (see press release March 12, 2007). The film has won numerous awards, among them the Silver Dove at the International Leipzig Festival for Documentary and Animated Film.
The FIFA festival presents films from the entire spectrum of artistic production. With “Building the Gherkin” by Mirjam von Arx, last year’s winner for “Best Reportage” was also a Swiss film.
