Three Swiss short film productions have been selected for the international competition at the 20th Aspen Shortsfests (April 5-10, 2011): the documentary film “Kwa Heri Mandima” (Leopards of Tomorrow 2010 in Locarno) by ECAL student Robert-Jan Lacombe; the film by the two Romandy directors Ramon & Pedro “Le miroir,” featuring singer-musician Henri Dès, among others; and the coproduction “Yuri Lennon's Landing On Alpha 46” by Anthony Vouardoux, winner of the Swiss Film Prize “Quartz 2011” for Best Short Film.

The international short film festival in Aspen presents about 100 short film productions in all genres and from all over the world and is one of the most important film festivals for short films in North America. It is accredited by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, meaning the winners of the four main festival awards qualify for an Oscar nomination in the categories of Animated Short Film or Live Action Short Film.

Two of Switzerland's competition entries - "Le miroir" and "Yuri Lennon's Landing On Alpha 46" - will be on tour in eight cities throughout German-speaking Switzerland in April and May in conjunction with the Short Film Night organised by SWISS FILMS.
