Sergio Da Costa’s most recent documentary film – together with Maya Kosa – was honoured with an award in Lisbon. This marks the third award the director of Portuguese descent has won for three different films at three different editions of the doclisboa Festival.

The 37-minute film “Aux bains de la reine,” co-directed by Maya Kosa and the Genevan director of Portuguese descent Sergio Da Costa, was honoured with the Prix Canon for Best Portuguese Short Film at the 10th doclisboa International Documentary Film Festival (October 18-28, 2012). The two cineastes attended the award ceremony to accept the award, endowed with EUR 2,500. Following its premiere at the Festival Visions du Réel in Nyon last April, “Aux bains de la reine” won the prize for Best Short Film at the International Short Film Festival in Belo Horizonte (Brazil) last month.

Long-term work
The film “Aux bains de la reine,” which oscillates between a documentary film and a staging, is the first time Maya Kosa and Sergio Da Costa have co-directed a film together. They both studied at the HEAD Geneva University of Art and Design. The Swiss-Portuguese director Sergio Da Costa had already been honoured with awards at the doclisboa Festival in 2009 and 2010 with his previous short film productions “Snack-bar Aquário” and “Entretien avec Almiro Vilar Da Costa.”
