The Saint Petersburg International Film Festival pays tribute to Swiss director Christoph Schaub with a retrospective and an invitation as a member of the international jury. Thereafter, the strong presence of Swiss film productions will continue at the Message To Man Documentary Film Festival. Russia is the country of focus for film programmes intermediated by SWISS FILMS until 2015.

Christoph Schaub is present at the Saint Petersburg International Film Festival (September 13-22, 2013) with his fiction films “Nachtlärm,” “Stille Liebe” and “Giulias Verschwinden” and as a jury member of the International Competition. The festival focuses on feature-length fiction and animation film productions.

Message To Man
Thereafter, a seamless transition for the Swiss presence in Saint Petersburg will be made at the Message To Man International Documentary Film Festival (September 21-28). The festival will screen current works in the “Private Space” programme: “Vaters Garten” by Peter Liechti; “La clé de la chambre à lessive” by Floriane Devigne and Frédéric Florey; “Ma mère s’appelle Forêt” by Rachel Noël; and “Ma Na Sapna” by Valerie Gudenus. Screened in the International Competition will be the feature-length documentary film “Cantos” by Charlie Petersmann, as well as the short films “Traumfrau” by Oliver Schwarz and “Résurrection” by Jeremy Rosenstein. Petersmann will personally present his film portraying Cuban realities at the festival, together with the film’s producer Aline Schmid (Intermezzo Films). Gudenus, Devigne, Noël and Petersmann will participate in the “Was mich berührt” masterclass. The Message To Man International Film Festival and the International Documentary Festival in Perm are the leading platforms for the documentary film genre in Russia.

Focus on Russia
SWISS FILMS, the promotion agency, has initiated the Swiss presence in Saint Petersburg in collaboration with the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia and its “Swiss Made in Russia” cultural exchange programme. Russia the focus country for film programmes intermediated by SWISS FILMS until 2015.
