Two Swiss film productions in San Sebastian

The documentary film “Los pasos dobles,” coproduced by Dan Wechsler, celebrates its world premiere in the Official Selection programme of the 59th San Sebastian International Film Festival (September 16-24, 2011). After winning the Golden Leopard in Locarno and being screened in Toronto, the feature film “Abrir las puertas y ventanas by Milagros Mumenthaler has yet another international platform now in the city on the Bay of Biscay. The 59th edition of the festival is the first for the new director José Luis Rebordinos.

Dan Wechsler was presented this year at the film festival in Cannes as the "Producer on the Move" by the European Film Promotion. His firm, Bord Cadre films in Geneva, produced "Los pasos dobles," a portrait of the Spanish artist Miquel Barceló who searches for his doppelganger in Mali.

The film "Abrir puertas y ventanas," which was honoured with five awards in Locarno, will be screened at the Toronto International Film Festival this week (September 12, 13 and 17). It depicts three sisters who return to live in their family home following the death of their grandmother and are faced with issues concerning their existence and future.

The international Film festival in San Sebastian is the most important film festival in Spain and ranks among the 13 first-class international film festivals accredited by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF).
