Young Swiss documentary filmmakers forge ahead to Paris
The film “Eine ruhige Jacke” will celebrate its premiere in the International First Films competition of the 33rd Cinéma du Réel International Documentary Film Festival in Paris.

In his 74-minute film "Eine ruhige Jacke," Ramòn Giger gets closer to a young autistic man in a home for the disabled in a rural area. Just as contingent as the relationship to his caretaker was the protagonist's consent to shoot the film, which the director had to seek day after day. The 20-minute film "I cani abbaiano" portrays the lives of the two remaining inhabitants in a village in Abruzzo, Italy devastated by an earthquake in 2009. The film "La terre tremble" is a 40-minute journey through Venezuela, a country marked by political and social turmoil.
The festival was founded in 1978 by French cineaste Jean Rouch, with its venue being the Centre Pompidou. The festival focuses mainly on ethnographic and sociological documentary films. Films by well-known Swiss directors will be screened in the festival's "Ecoute voir! Off the Road" section: Daniel Schmid's "Il Bacio di Tosca"; Peter Liechti's "Kick That Habit"; and Jean-Luc Godard's "Soigne ta droite."
