Geboren 1983, aufgewachsen im Toggenburg (Schweiz). Von 2004 bis 2010 folgte ein Studium in Politikwissenschaft, Filmwissenschaft und Sozial-/ Wirtschaftsgeschichte an der Universität Zürich. Danach arbeitete er kurzzeitig als Journalist. Seit 2003 produzierte Joël Jent mehrere Kurzfilm-, Dokumentar- und Spielfilmprojekte, darunter auch eigene Regiearbeiten. Er produzierte die preisgekrönten Filme "Bagdad in my Shadow" und den 3D-Dokumentarfilm "Iraqi Odyssey", sowie die Kurzfilme "Bon Voyage" und "Facing Mecca" (Student Academy Award 2017). Seit 2017 lehrt Joël Jent an der Zürcher Hochschule der Künste und ist Mitglied der Europäischen- sowie der Schweizer Filmakademie. Er arbeitet als unabhängiger Drehbuchautor und Filmemacher und ist Vater eines Sohnes.
