Als Lisa nach den Goldminen ihres Grossvaters fragt, ist die Antwort eindeutig: Alle Dokumente wurden verbrannt. Doch als sie dann seine Verbindungen zu Mobutu und dem Bergbaugeschäft im ehemaligen Zaire zurückverfolgt, beginnt die Lücke in den Familienarchiven eine umfassendere gesellschaftliche Frage zu spiegeln. Der Film untersucht, wie Schweigen und Verleugnung sowohl das individuelle als auch das nationale Gedächtnis prägen.
