Ursula Biemann ist Künstlerin, Autorin und Essayfilmerin mit Sitz in Zürich, Schweiz. Ihre forschungsbasierte Praxis verbindet künstlerische Recherche mit Feldforschung in abgelegenen und geopolitisch komplexen Regionen, von Grönland bis in den Amazonas. In Filmen, Büchern und Videoinstallationen setzt sie sich mit indigenen und alternativen Wissensformen auseinander und untersucht dabei ökologische, kosmologische und politische Dimensionen der Natur. Ihre Arbeiten wurden international in Museen, auf Filmfestivals und großen Kunstbiennalen gezeigt. Sie studierte an der School of Visual Arts in New York. 2009 erhielt sie den Prix Meret Oppenheim, 2022 den Art Award of the City of Zurich.
