The film follows five multiple handicapped over a period of 25 years, providing glimpses of different stages in their life. It concentrates on the daily routines and the process of growing up, showing both progress made on the physical and mental levels, and eventual relapses, in an effort to discover the extent to which there is a chance for the integration of the handicapped, and the difficulties involved. With great tenderness and despite the limitations which allegedly separate us from them, the film focuses on the human dimension of the problems which the hadicapped face.
