Alfonsina Storni (1892–1938) is an Argentine legend. In “Alfonsina and the sea,” the song from the 1960s still sung everywhere even today, inspired Alfonsina as the heroine who, with divine consent, plunged into Atlantic and drowned. The creation of legends surrounding Alfonsina – a dauntless feminist who broke taboos and whose poetry was potentially scandalous – had already begun during her lifetime.
