Hilmi Gashi (journalist, 34) and Francesco Micieli (writer) set out together from Bern to southern Italy, and then across the Adriatic to the Balkans. Francesco is originally from Santa Sofia d'Epiro (arbëreshë village in Calabria) and Hilmi from a village near Prizren (Kosova). They have common languages (Albanian and German), are particularly well integrated in Switzerland, and are deeply interested in the history of their migration. The voyage provides the stagecraft of the film and is a metaphor for the phenomenon of migration. Hilmi and Francesco make stops in Santa Sofia d'Epiro, Tirana (Albania) und Prizren. These places of perseverance provide the setting for encounters with people who have been meaningful in the migratory histories of Hilmi and Francesco.
