He embarks on a 20,000-kilometer journey around the Artic Circle for 24 months, entirely alone and without the use of any motorised vehicle. This nearly endless expedition takes him across Northern Europe, Greenland, Canada, Alaska and Siberia and requires multitudinous forms of locomotion: on foot, with skis, occasionally with the aid of a kite, sailboat and/or canoe. Although his luggage weighs over 200 kilograms, he has it with him at all times. On this journey, he not only encounters a great number of dangerous situations, but is also confronted each and every day with learning to live with the solitude of the Arctic plateau.
Mike tells us about his adventure, his journey through pack ice, which also led him to the innermost depth of his own soul. Mike Horn is certainly one of today’s major explorers and adventurers. Mike Horn, who was born in South Africa, now lives in Switzerland in Château d'Oex.
