The Appenzell area is one of the regions in Switzerland with the most varied and interesting musical traditions. This film by Magdalena Kauz portrays three musicians from the cantons of eastern Switzerland: violinist and composer Noldi Alder, drummer Ernst Brunner and sculptor Arthur Schneiter examine the traditions of their native region in a very creative and unique way. While Ernst Brunner improvises on the stone instruments of Arthur Schneiter, Arnold Alder and his ensemble proceed to play in the tradition of Appenzell string music.
