In nineteenth-century England, Mary is a young girl with a passion for fossils, which she and her father search for on the beach and then sell to tourists. But the sudden death of her father throws the family into turmoil: without a source of income, they will soon have to leave their homes, and worse still for Mary, her beloved fossil beach. But before he died, her father left her a mysterious message that could change many things.
