Ethan Wildwood lives in his own world, midway between reality and dream. Escaping Los Angeles and an actor’s life full of hardship and failure, he is given the task of shooting short on-the-road stories by a documentary producer friend. Driving his strange self-promoting car and equipped with a small video camera, he tells the story of his trip and his encounters with ordinary people in the vast American countryside. Until one day when he meets Vicky, a singer traveling from place to place searching for her daughter Mary Jane, who disappeard under mysterious circumstances ten years earlier. Ethan intrigued by the story starts his own personal investigation which will lead him to discover hidden and unexpected truths…
Ethan Wildwood vive nel suo mondo sempre in bilico tra realtà e sogno. In fuga da Los Angeles e da una vita d’attore fatta di stenti e fallimenti, viene incaricato da un amico produttore di documentari di realizzare brevi storie «on the road». A bordo della sua auto «manifesto» e armato di una piccola videocamera racconta il suo viaggio fatto d’incontri spontanei con personaggi della grande provincia americana. Finché un giorno sulla sua strada incontra Vicky, una cantante che si sposta di luogo in luogo alla ricerca della figlia Mary Jane, scomparsa in circostanze misteriose dieci anni prima. Ethan si appassiona alla storia di quella scomparsa e inizia una sua personale indagine che lo condurrà a scoprire verità nascoste e inaspettate…
