When Zwingli began preaching as a pastor in Zurich, he was afflicted with the plague. Facing certain death, God's word carried him through and he survived. Encouraged and strengthened, Zwingli turned Zurich upside down with the Bible in his hand. With the desire to make the Bible understandable to the people, Zwingli and his friends began to translate the book into the people's language. However, opposition grew – even from his closest circle of friends.
