This year marks the twelfth edition of the Swiss Film Prize QUARTZ and it was awarded for the first time within the framework of a gala event. Television moderator Susanne Kunz hosted the award ceremony in the KKL Luzern, with some 1,300 guests from culture, politics and business in attendance. The festive
ceremony was further highlighted by the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Matthias Bamert.

To signify the «Awarding of the Swiss Film Prize QUARTZ 2009» gala event, the three SRG SSR idée suisse television channels – SF zwei, TSR 1 and RSI la 1 – devoted the entire Saturday evening to the Swiss film industry. The focus of the evening programme was the award ceremony, parts of which were broadcast live from the KKL Luzern.

The award ceremony of the Swiss Film Prize QUARTZ is under the auspices of SRG SSR idée suisse, in collaboration with the Federal Office of Culture and SWISS FILMS. Further partners are the Swiss Film Academy, Solothurn Film Festival, the City of Lucerne and KKL Luzern. The awarding of the Swiss Film Prize will be held again at the KKL Luzern in 2010, namely on Saturday, March 6, 2010.
