Cannes 2012: Laurels for Swiss films

Two Swiss coproductions were honoured with awards in two sections of the 65th Festival de Cannes.

Two Swiss coproductions were honoured with awards in two sections of the 65th Festival de Cannes. The jury of the illy Prize presented the short film “Os vivos tambem choram” by Basil da Cunha an Honourable Mention, while the jury of the “Un certain regard” section presented its award for Best Actress to the film “A perdre la raison” by Belgian director Joachim Lafosse. Both films were coproduced by Box Productions in Lausanne.

Honourable Mention for “Os vivos tambem choram”
The jury in the Directors’ Fortnight section presented the illy Prize to the Swiss-Portuguese coproduction “Os vivos tambem choram” by Basil da Cunha with an Honourable Mention. This is the second time the Directors’ Fortnight screened a short film by the director of Portuguese descent: already in 2011 da Cunha presented the medium-length film “Nuvem” (Le poisson lune), also produced by Box Productions in Lausanne.

Best Actress Award for “A perdre la raison”
Actress Emilie Dequenne won the Un Certain Regard Award for Best Actress for her role in the film “A perdre la raison» by Joachim Lafosse (coproduction: Box Productions). This fourth feature-length film by the Belgian director was coproduced by Belgium, Luxemburg, France and Switzerland.
