Denis Rabaglia wins awards in Geneva and Martigny

29.10.2007

Denis Rabaglia, the 41-year-old film director from Wallis, has presented the award for Best Swiss Television Film 2007 for his film “Pas de panique” – a Swiss-French co-production (Point Prod Geneva, Télévision Suisse Romande, France 2) – in conjunction with the opening ceremonies of the Festival Cinéma Tout Ecran in Geneva. The award is granted by SWISSPEFORM, the collecting society for neighbouring rights, with a sum of 20,000 Swiss francs. On October 12, Denis Rabaglia was also honoured for his cinematic works with Martignys’ City Prize 2007, which amounted to 10,000 Swiss francs.
Denis Rabaglia won the Max Ophuels Prize in Saarbrücken with his debut film “Grossesse nerveuse” in 1994. However, it was his film “Azzurro”, for which he was awarded the Swiss Film Prize 2001 as “Best Fiction Film”, that gained him his breakthrough with the public: approximately 100,000 viewers saw the film in Switzerland, thus classifying it as the most successful fiction film from the French-speaking region of Switzerland for the past 20 years. His third fiction film for the cinema “Marcello, Marcello” (production: C-Films, Zurich and zero fiction Berlin), which Denis Rabaglia shot this past spring near Naples, is scheduled to be released in the cinemas in 2008. His commitment to auteur films with public appeal has facilitated Denis Rabaglia’s close collaboration with internationally famous actors and actresses, including Paolo Villaggio, Marie-Christine Barrault, Jean-Luc Bideau, Julien Boisselier, Tom Novembre, Roland Giraud and Frédéric Diefenthal.

Twelve television films were in the running for the Prix Swissperform 2007, all of which had been produced during the past 18 months for the various channels of the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation (SRG SSR idée Suisse). The award-winning film “Pas de panique”, for which actress Natacha Koutchoumov won the Swiss Film Prize 2007 in the category of “Best Performance in a Supporting Role“, was broadcast on October 10 on the France 2 channel.
