Richard Dindo, Carole Roussopoulos, Jean-Luc Godard, Anne-Marie Miéville as well as the young, Ticino-resident Bosnian Zijad Ibrahimovic are the names of the directors from Switzerland whose films will be showing at the 32nd “Festival Cinéma du Réel” from 18 to 28 March in Paris. The festival, which is aimed at sociological and ethnographic films, is one of France’s most important documentary film festivals.
In the “Premiers Films” section, Cinéma du Réel is presenting the film “Custodi di guerra” (producers Ventura Film, Meride) by Zijad Ibrahimovic, an assessment of the situation at the scene of a mass murder twenty years after the Yugoslavian war. In the “Panorama du cinéma français” section, Richard Dindo is showing his 68-minute video film “Gauguin à Tahiti et aux Marquises”, in which he portrays the final years of the painter Paul Gauguin, spent in the South Seas, as the fate of a non-understood artist and rebel.

The “Nous deux” section features two films produced jointly by Jean-Luc Godard and Anne-Marie Miévielle: “The Old Place” (1998) and “Reportage amateur” (2006) as well as the two-minute film “Prière (2) pour refusniks” (2004) by Jean-Luc Godard. The 8-minute film “Jean Genet parle d’Angela Davis”, produced in 1970 by the Swiss cineaste Carole Roussopolous, who died in 2009, will also be shown in Paris.
