Numerous Swiss short films in Brest

The 21st Brest European Short Film Festival, taking place in Brest (Bretagne) from November 11 – 19, 2006, presents numerous Swiss short film productions. In the European competition, “Rachel” by Frédéric Mermoud and “Hunde/Dogs” by Matthias Huser are, along with 42 films, in the running for the main prize. “Cevapcici” by Jonas Meier will be screened in the “Cocotte Minute” competition for feature and experimental films under six minutes. In the “Jeune public” program, two Swiss animated films will be shown, “Le génie de la boîte de raviolis” by Claude Barras and “Tarte aux pommes” by Isabelle Favez.
Additional Swiss films can be discovered outside of competition at Brest: “Visite médicale” by Félix von Muralt appears in the “Nuit de l’ouverture” program,“Hi Maya” by Claudia Lorenz screens in the “Humour au féminin” section, and a retrospective with Ursula Meier will take place with the director discussing the topic of “From short to long film” with the audience.
This festival is the most important short film event in France alongside Clermont-Ferrand, and it is known for the discovery of young feature film talents.
With its film market and retrospectives, the event presents approximately 700 short films to the film industry and to numerous film enthusiasts (with over 42,000 entries sold in 2005).
