SWISS FILMS Industry Information
23.01.2026
At the Solothurn Film Festival, SWISS FILMS presented the results of this year's industry survey and outlined its goals and priorities for the new year.
The focus was on the successes of 2025 and a concrete outlook for 2026, with the clear objective of further strengthening the international presence of Swiss cinema while systematically expanding its national visibility.
A total of 500 Swiss filmmakers from various professional fields participated in this year’s non-representative online survey on the activities of SWISS FILMS, a slight increase compared to 481 participants in the previous year. With this annual survey, SWISS FILMS offers film professionals the opportunity to provide feedback and input on its work. Overall satisfaction has increased slightly: 76.2% of participants rated the work of SWISS FILMS positively, compared to 74.3% last year.
The biggest challenges for 2026 identified by the survey, are international competition (as in the previous year), changing consumer behavior (new), and the decline of movie theaters (as in the previous year). Among SWISS FILMS' activities, networking events, support measures, and the SWISS FILMS database services are particularly appreciated. The main information channels for the industry remain the website and the newsletter.
