Short and wild
The Swiss selection at the Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur
29.10.2025
Short films made in Switzerland have a lot to offer! With more than 40 films – ranging from daring to poetic, from surreal to documentary – being screened at the Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur (November 4–9), there is much to discover. Furthermore, our SWISS FILMS Previews will provide the international industry insight into the latest short film projects.
Eighteen short films will be screened in the Swiss Competition, many of which are celebrating premieres. Five films will also be screened in the International Competition: the experimental documentary films MANUAL OF SELF-DESTRUCTION by Elisa Baccolo and THOSE WHO HEAR THE SUN by Maurizius Staerkle Drux; the short fiction films RELAY by Thilo Gundelach and LOVE IN THE TIME OF CHOLERA by Jules Carrin; and the documentary film AIR HORSE ONE by Lasse Linder. All are celebrating their world premieres, apart from the latter, which premiered at the Locarno Film Festival. Under certain conditions, the films in competition are eligible for nominations for the Academy Awards, BAFTA, European Film Award and Swiss Film Award.
Numerous other short films From Switzerland will be screened in the Züri Shorts, in the Sparks Competition, and at the Swiss Film School Day. As important producers of short films, this offers Switzerland’s film schools a platform to present their films to the public and to exchange views on the works with the Swiss jury.
