Shortly after the conclusion of the Filmfest München, Swiss filmmaking shines once again near the Bavarian state capital: 19 Swiss film productions will be screened at the Five Lakes Film Festival. Furthermore, a showcase of works is dedicated to cineaste Fredi M. Murer.

Six prizes in various categories will be awarded at the 6th Five Lakes Film Festival, which is held in villages located on five lakes in Upper Bavaria from July 26 - August 5, 2012. The festival focuses on films from the region between the Danube River and the Adriatic Sea. The nine fiction films screened in competition and thus in the running for the Five Lakes Film Award include the following Swiss film productions: “Sister” by Ursula Meier; “Mangrove” by Frédéric Choffat and Julie Gilbert; as well as “Summer Games” by Rolando Colla.

Symbol of humanity and solidarity
“Bottled Life” and “Vol spécial” are among the nine films screened at the festival because they address the dignity of human life and provide an example of understanding and solidarity. The following Swiss films are among the nine films screened in the Documentary Film Competition: “Die Kinder vom Napf” and “Drei Brüder à la carte.”

Gedeck, Tukur and Murer
In addition to Martina Gedeck and Ulrich Tukur, the “visual thinker” (Five Lakes Film Festival) Fredi M. Murer has been invited as the guest of the festival. He will present his films “Höhenfeuer,” “Grauzone,” “Vollmond” and “Vitus.

“Kapitän Hu,” “Baggern” and “Ménage à trois”
Five short film productions from Switzerland are among the 20 works screened in the Short Film Competition, including the animation film “Kapitän Hu” by Basil Vogt and the documentary film “Baggern” by Corina Schwingruber Ilic. The screening of the 57-minute documentary film “Ménage à trois” as well as fiction films by Thomas Gerber and Mohammed Soudani in other festival sections rounds off the exceptionally strong Swiss presence at this summer event on the five lakes in Upper Bavaria.
