Fernand Melgar’s “La Forteresse” (production: Climage, Lausanne) will be screened in the competition at the 24th International Documentary Film Festival in Munich (May 6-13, 2009). With Viviane Blumenschein’s film “Going Against Fate” (Turnus Film, Zurich) and Gaël Métroz’s “Nomad's Land” (Tipi’mages, Geneva), two further Swiss film productions are participating in the international programme.
The DOK.FEST in Munich, initially founded with the aim of being a “festival of the festivals” for the Munich audience, focuses on creative documentary films and now ranks among the most important festivals for the genre of documentary film in German-speaking countries, together with the Leipzig International Festival for Documentary and Animated Film and the “Duisburger Filmwoche”. Swiss film productions have become a festival fixture over the years.
